  • Concerts, a Goya-themed market, parades and activities for all audiences during ten days of celebration.

Móstoles is already celebrating. Until May 3rd, the city is celebrating its traditional May 2nd Festival, declared of National Tourist Interest, with a program full of history, music and activities for all ages.

Locals and visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere that recalls the uprising of May 2, 1808, when mayors Andrés Torrejón and Simón Hernández signed the historic Proclamation of Independence against Napoleon's troops.

The program, which began on April 24 with the opening of the fairgrounds, a major meeting point, includes adapted hours and quiet periods to facilitate access for people with sensory disabilities. In addition, Children's Day will be celebrated on April 27 and 28 with discounts on rides.

Chupinazo, May 2nd and other key moments

One of the most anticipated moments will arrive on April 29th with the traditional rocket launch from the Town Hall balcony in Plaza de España, officially kicking off the festivities. That same night, fireworks will light up the sky over Móstoles in a spectacular display next to the Andrés Torrejón Sports Center.

The popular Goyesque Market will open beforehand, featuring over 140 stalls selling crafts and food, as well as entertainment, street performances, and family activities. In addition, there will be a parade of giants and big-headed figures and the installation of the iconic Meninas sculptures, scattered throughout the city.

May 2nd will be the main day of the celebrations, featuring a tribute to the Heroes of Independence in Plaza del Pradillo, accompanied by official ceremonies, historical reenactments, and period parades. In the afternoon, the reenactment of historical events will once again transport the public back to the year 1808.

The program also includes essential events such as the Lantern Parade, the Float Competition, and the traditional May Day scenes.

Music and sport for all audiences

In the music section, the festivities will feature concerts and shows for all tastes. Highlights include David Otero's performance as the grand finale, as well as events like "Pop/Rock Night," with groups such as La Pegatina, and "Móstoles Platinum Urban," which will bring together artists like La Zowi and Lennis Rodríguez. There will also be live music at Finca Liana Park and events like "Lorca is Flamenco."

The little ones will have their own space with “Cantajuego: Megahits” or the Junior Disco in Plaza de España.

The festivities are complemented by a wide-ranging sports program, framed within the recognition of Móstoles as European City of Sport 2026, with competitions in boxing, volleyball, futsal or chess, among others.

During these days, the City Council will reinforce security measures, enabling information points and special night transport, as well as prevention initiatives.

With all this, Móstoles is preparing for a few days in which tradition, history and fun will once again fill the streets of the municipality.
